Weekly Sketchbook- Cirque School
Drawing and painting has been a little bit of a struggle this past month. I’d started a couple of drawings and paintings which never really seemed to find their groove. Meanwhile, I’ve started to write the first draft of a screenplay (one of my creative bucket list items), which has taken a lot of my attention while wrapping up the school year has taken the other half, so my habit of sketching every morning has fallen to the wayside.
To start getting back in a daily routine, I signed up for this morning’s Life Drawing Workshop at Cirque School. I have to admit, there wasn’t a single drawing that felt “on” today, but I’ve learned to give my work enough space to “breathe” before making a judgment.
To my students, or anyone else wanting to improve their gesture drawings, I recommend signing up for the Cirque School sessions. They have one every month. Not only do the models offer really unique, dynamic poses, but the workshops are a great way to strengthen your ability to capture action and movement!
