Weekly Sketchbook- 70’s Men’s Fashion

The process of drawing feels different every time I sit down to sketch. Last week’s drawings flowed effortlessly. This week was clunkier.

Maybe it was the subject matter? The first thing I’d noticed as I gathered reference for this week’s drawings was how stiff all the models were compared to the contemporary models I’d been sketching out previously. As much as I tried to avoid it, that awkwardness may have crept their way into my drawings.

I’ve been experimenting with different brushes in Procreate each time I sit down to draw, and that could have been the culprit too. Every brush suggests a different way of using it, so it’s normal to respond more naturally to some than others. While, I don’t think this week’s series ended up being the most consistent, I had fun playing around with mark making.
