Where It Is Now (Prayer)
My plan when I started this blog was to force myself to post a weekly update, but the Limerence project has been in the works for so long that I’ve had a difficult time distilling its history down. I’ve been dug through old archive videos, sketches, Instagram posts, but getting to this point has been such an organic, improvisational process that it’s hard to track down all the proper pieces to tell its story. While I’m still ironing that out, I may as well start with where I’m at now.
This is the glass screen for Prayer, in-progress and minus a couple of its interior panels. The pieces in the Limerence series will be a combination of video and sculptural installations. Even though neither element is complete without the other, I want this sculptural screen to be a beautiful object in its own right, even when video isn’t being projected onto it.
Glass is still a new medium to me. I jumped right into making this ambitious 9 x 9’ installation just after I started taking lessons at my local Bullseye Glass studio. I’ve already been working on this screen for two years, but I’m finally in the last stretch of finishing off these panels. Polishing has been the longest part of the process by far, taking me a year to date. I’m hoping to finish Prayer in June.
